Lyn Cooke
AIM Link Missionary
Lyn Cooke has been serving God in Uganda for some years. Until recently she was based in Kampala (the capital city) as the Office Manager of Africa Inland Mission’s central region.
It was while she was in Kampala that Lyn found that talking and making good friendships with the indigenous Ugandan women was what God wanted her to do in the future.
In September 2011 she will be moving to Arua, in the North of Uganda, not far from the borders of Congo and Sudan to work in the Diocese of West Madi.
Lyn will be working with Alice (a native Ugandan) to disciple, support and encourage Church teacher’s wives.
The Bishop who heads up the work in the diocese is very evangelical and is moving the Church forward in areas of discipleship and spiritual growth.
A wife of a Church leader in a Ugandan village is in a position of great influence and so is regarded as a role model for other women. By discipling, teaching and encouraging such women, there will be a significant impact on the community in seeing what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.
Lyn is always glad to see familiar friends visit her from time to time, in supporting her work in Uganda.
Lyn, although many miles distant, remains very much a part of Brentwood Baptist Church, and values very much the group of people who meet every month to pray for her and the work she is doing.
